Agent & MCP Release
4 updates in Hero, including Hero MCP, Hero Agent for Logistics and Conversational Editing.
🔌 Hero MCP
Use Hero from Claude and other AI tools: find projects, read, generate, export, invite.
What it is: Hero as an MCP server, so an AI assistant you already use can work inside your Hero projects with your own Hero permissions.
Works with: Claude (web, desktop and Claude Code) as a custom connector, and other AI tools that support remote MCP servers with sign-in.
Server URL: https://api.herovideo.ai/mcp
Set up in Claude (web or desktop): 1) Create a free Hero account at herovideo.ai if you don’t have one. 2) In Claude, open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. 3) Name it Hero and paste the server URL. 4) Click Connect and sign in with your Hero account. 5) Approve read access, or read and write access if you want Claude to make changes. 6) In a chat, turn on the Hero connector and ask, for example, “list my Hero projects”.
Set up in Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http hero https://api.herovideo.ai/mcp, then run /mcp and sign in with your Hero account.
Other AI tools: add a remote MCP server with the same URL and sign in with your Hero account when prompted.
Access: sign in with your Hero account. The assistant only sees organizations and projects you can already open, with read-only or read-and-write access.
Can read: projects (search by name or Project ID), treatments, scripts, custom documents, storyboards and frames, characters, sets and props, the shooting schedule, call sheets, text from uploaded assets, deliverable status, and comments.
Can do: create a project; start a treatment, script or storyboard generation and track its progress; export PDFs; duplicate a project; create documents and keep a running document updated section by section; add assets; create and rename characters, sets and props; rename projects and files and set their status, notes and privacy; invite or remove project members; adjust the schedule (reorder strips, shift times, set a day’s call time, move a production day, edit strip fields, lock strip times).
Safety: changes that overwrite something or affect other people ask you to confirm before they happen.
Built-in starters: review a treatment, create a shoot from a concept, do an interiors-first schedule pass, sync a project’s status.
Not yet: editing treatment or script text, generating or editing images, creating call sheets, replying to comments.
🤖 Hero Agent for Logistics
Ask Hero Agent to edit schedules, shotlists and call sheets in plain language.
Where: the Hero Agent chat inside any project.
Example asks: “start day 2 at 8am”, “add a lunch break after the kitchen scene”, “group interiors first”, “move day 3 to the 22nd”, “the CEO speech is fixed at 4pm”.
Schedule: add, duplicate, delete, move and reorder strips; add or move production days; put undated shots onto a day; sync the schedule from storyboards; arrange a day for you; lock and unlock strip times. Start times cascade and Hero says when a day runs long.
Shotlist: edit the same logistics fields (interior/exterior, location, camera, duration and more); add, duplicate, delete and reorder frames.
Call sheets: edit the header (date, crew call, locations, parking, base camp, nearest hospital, notes, draft or final) plus the body and tables.
Look-ups: checks public facts like sunset time at a location or a permit rule, and can add a shoot day’s sunrise, sunset and rain as weather strips.
Guardrails: reports what it changed and what it left alone, never moves a locked strip, and asks before running a day past midnight.
✍️ Conversational Editing
Ask Hero Agent to rewrite, format, or restructure any doc and see edits land live.
Works on: treatments, scripts, call sheets, custom documents, a storyboard frame’s visuals, audio, on-screen text and notes, schedule notes, and character, set and prop descriptions.
Any size of change: “change Spain to Italy”, “put frame 104’s dialogue in Spanish”, “add Jeff as gaffer to the crew table”, “add ND filters to every shot”, “tighten the second act by about a third”.
Structure too: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, columns, links and @-mentions of characters, sets and props, wherever that editor supports them.
Keeps the rest: only the part you asked about changes; formatting, links and comments elsewhere stay put. Editing changes part of a document; regenerating replaces all of it.
Tip: name the document, frame or element, and say what must stay the same.
🖼️ Agent Image References
Point Hero Agent at any picture to guide generations, frame edits and elements.
Sources: an image link pasted into chat, an image found on the web, a project asset, a frame’s or element’s picture, or a logo or picture inside an uploaded PDF. You can also ask it to pick a suitable project image, for example “a warm interior”.
Used for: treatment and storyboard generation, frame and document image edits, character, set and prop pictures, and Playground images.
Frame edits by chat: “make it black and white”, “tighten to a close-up”, across several frames in one request. Each result is added as a new version, so earlier images stay available.
Transparency: says which pictures it could not use and why.
Tip: for a person, place or product that appears in many shots, add the pictures to its character, set or prop so every frame stays consistent.
